librarian-merit bage

Since it was was Wednesday Emma, Jessica and I headed to the libary for our duty. Today it was a bit different since it was cold all the little kids came to the library instead of us coming to the junior area. It worked out great because the kids could choose their own book instead choosing out of a small amount. I read to Aleen and Adam who loved reading and really wanted to do it again. ( which I should hopefully see them again). Overall I really ennjoyed staying in the libary this time letting the kids choose a corner and I really enjoyed it.

The leaderhsip trait I showed was active thinking because I had to think because there was already so many kids in the library and they had to stay there.

Leadership meeting - must do

Today we had our leadership meeting on Monday at morning tea time. We got into a circle and discussed how we've been going this year. Asking questions like how it’s going? Favourite bit? Most challenging? We discussed this a partner expect the last one which we went around the circle just so Mr Ladbrook could see what we could to improve on.

Thew leadership trait I used was ative thinking becuase I had to think of good ideas for the questions.

Overalll It was really good and I got to know the people around me a bit more.

Leadership meeting-Merit

Today we talked about being organised and how to juggle responsibly some of the thing I learnt was to write it down, everything you own you know where they are and preparation is the key you need to be prepared for everything. I think these tips were really helpful and will definitely use them in the future as a leader. Mr Ladbrook also told us some of his own tips which were really good (mainly apps)

The care value I used was active thinking because I had to think how I could put these goals in action.

Overall this really helped me and I will definitelyuse these tips in the future at the moment my goal is to write things down because I usually forget about important details.

Must do- librarian

Yesterday Jessica and I went down to the juniors to read to them. We collected some bean bags and went to find some books to read to them. After we headed down to the juniors deck and went looking for some kids it was a bit hard because everyone seemed to want to skip and do other stuff and not read. We finally found two kids really wanting to read. We read nearly a whole Barbie box to them! They seemed to really enjoy it and so did I :) :)

The leadership trait I showed was resilience because it was very hard to find kids to read too.

Get involved- Merit badge

Today it was oaklands bake-sale so me and the rest of the leaders had to help out first we had to set up and get the food and tables  ready. After people started coming and it was big rush trying to figure out prices and serving people. I really enjoyed selling to people, knowing when to put the price down and figuring out how to get stuff sold.
The leadership trait I showed was resilient  cause I had to work out what to do in hard solutions fast.

Today Mr Ladbrook for our leadership meeting  showed us a graph of what people were doing in blog posts and showed us how we were doing. Turns out most of us our doing pretty well. we  also talked about what was going on around the school eg: tabloid sports ect:  we talked about this for a few minutes and then  after we had time to do blog posts which is what I'm doing right now.
The leadership trait I showed was active thinking was I had to figure how long it would take to get my badge.

Today for the leadership we learning  balancing responsibilities and how we can mange with school , leadership duties and outer school things. We had to watch a video about it and did an activities to do with it. after we had to make a doc and answer questions about it.

Libarren- Can do merit

On wendesday me and Jessica went down to the juniors to read to them after grabing some books and sat down almost immediately kids started coming up wanting to read after I had arounf three kids I started to read. after a while I  soon had 7 or 8 kids all really happy with me reading to them. after the bell had rang Me and jessica started to pack up and take the beans bag back to the libary.
Overall it was the best outcome I'd ever got and I really enjoyed it.

Must do - Kauri team event

For Run Bike Run this year I had quite a big role in it for house points first we got to go in miss B's car so we could set up early .Once we got there we got straight into it it making the medals and setting up the course.
 After everyone has came and got settled Me and reia get set up so we can hand out poizs when the people come through from a race ( for particing you got 5 point and if you won you got 100 points) we did this race after race till our race came on.
Overall it was a really good day and everyone earnedlots of points for there house.

Libarren- Can do merit

On Tuesday Xathe didn't turn up so I filled in for her with Emma shelving some books then going down to the juniors to read we had quite a good outcome with about 10-15 kids split between us and about another 5 just reading to themselves in the corner it was the best outcome I'd ever had.

On Wednesday  Me and jessica grabbed some bean bags and headed over to the deck after grabbing
 a small group of kids after reading the same book about 5 time (even though there was like 20 books)
after kids had came and gone for a bit it was nearing the end of lunch time and told the few kids that were still there that we had to start heading back.

Overall both times were really good and I the kids seemed to really like listening especially the ones that have just started school.

Juniors actives -merit badge (be a role model to the juniors)

Today while the years 7's were at camp  the year 8s  had to to teach the year 0 and 1  how to play some games  first we had to get into pairs and plan some actives for them me and warisha choose Trixie tag because not many kids would of heard of it and was easy to explain and organised

after morning tea had finished we got straight into it going to the music room and got 3 or so kids for our group.

after sitting in a circle and introducing ourselves and your  favourite school subject. We quickly explained the rules.

after the game had started the kids seemed really into it apart from sometimes I had to remind them when to get up.

after that we had a complete new group and this time instead of just doing one game we did ball tag, sneek up granny and trixe tag.

this seemed to work better for the kids because they weren't getting bored of the same game.

overall it was a lot more fun thought then I thought 

Merit- Must do (helping out around the school)

Last week  I went to the library and someone hadn't came to libarren so I filled in with Emma and went to read to the juniors it was the fist time anybody had done it so we had to explain what was happening and grouped up three kids  who were happily listening to the 4 or 5 books we had after a while more kids had joined and had a whole bunch of kids listening. Five minutes till lunch ending we started packing up and heading back to the library.
Overall it was really fun and I was very pleased of how many kids came and can't wait to do it next time.

Must Do- technology on the bus

This week at tech on the bus to tech I sat with Samantha.W and Emma  we only talked to each other and the rest of bus seemed reasonably quiet.
When the bus stopped there was a little bit of pushing to get off the bus but that wasn't to bad.
On the way back to school I sat with Jessica and mad a small conversation only talking to her. The rest of the bus was a lot louder then on the way there.
Overall i was OK and could have been quieter.

Librarian- Can Do Merit

This week for Librarian I was reading to the juniors with Jessica.

After grabbing some books and bean bag we headed down to the junior area where I found a  girl who looked lost so I offer to read to her which she happily agreed to  after I'd nearly finished my first book  I had a group of 6 kids listening.
after I finished the first book  I choose one of the kids to pick another which they really liked because they got the chose there favorite books.
Overall it was the best turn up I'd ever had and thoroughly enjoyed it.
also all the kids got a poiz for choosing a good lunch time activities. 

Merit House Point Cooniter- Swimming Fun Day (can do)

Last Friday the whole school went down to jellie park for our swimming fun day the kaknoas went in the pool well the Kauai did races.
me and reia as well as doing our races had to tally up point which they eared though winning there races and being good be cheering and listening to the person specking (we handed out around 500 pozis) me and reia had to tally them up frequently.
we also had house game which was a great opportunity to win house points.
overall it was really fun and was one of my fist time a leader :)
